What are the Potential Benefits and Virtues of CBD Oil?

Cannabidiol (CBD), derived from the cannabis plant, has become in recent years the most popular cannabinoid behind THC. You will find it in many forms: CBD flowers, CBD cosmetics, CBD infusions, CBD oil or CBD sweets. Note that this product is not a medicine, so you can buy it as well as products derived from cannabidiol without prescription in specialized shops in France.
What are the virtues and benefits attributed to CBD and CBD oil?

Many medical and pharmacological studies are investigating the potential benefits of this molecule. Studies on its properties, benefits and pharmacological potential are constantly appearing. The list of these studies is available at the bottom of the article.

Anti-inflammatory potential and effect of CBD

Today, the relief of chronic pain often involves analgesic treatments from the family of opiates (derived from opium). Their effectiveness, the benefits of CBD and the effects of CBD are not to be questioned (though) but they can cause more than undesirable side effects: addiction, addiction, nausea, decreased immune defenses and various physiological damage. For these reasons, more and more people are turning to CBD oil to relieve these pains.

In addition to relieving pain, CBD oil would help reduce the sensation of pain by stimulating positive responses from different areas of your body, which would have the effect of causing analgesic effects.

Note that in addition to the chronic pain that CBD could relieve, it has been proven in several studies that cannabidiol has a positive impact on pain and overall health:

muscle: stretching, muscle fatigue…

joint (arthritis, rheumatism…)

menstrual

migraine-related

related to multiple sclerosis

fibromyalgia-related

related to Crohn’s disease

CBD anxiety potential and effect and CBD anti psychotic

The serotonin molecule is a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and behaviour. More generally, it plays a key role in mental health.

According to an animal study, CBD is thought to influence how receptors in the brain respond to serotonin. Studies indicate that the effect of CBD acts on the parts of the brain responsible for stress. Thus, with the consumption of CBD oil, the following benefits would be observed:

CBD effect 1: Stress reduction

CBD Effect #2: Decreased physiological effects of stress (such as increased heart rate)

CBD effect #3: Sleep improvement in cases of insomnia due to stress

CBD Effect #4: Decreased Symptoms of Traumatic Post Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Another effect of CBD: it could help mental disorders

In addition to its anti-stress potential, CBD has anti-psychotic potential and may help treat certain mental disorders such as:

depression

anxiety disorders: a study shows that CBD would help patients diagnosed with social anxiety disorders to speak out in public

bipolarity and schizophrenia by limiting adverse side effects due to psychotropics (unlike THC, the only psychotropic element in hemp)

Anti-cancer potential of CBD oil

The medical field where the efficacy and benefits of CBD are most promising is in the fight against cancer and its symptoms. Research has been conducted since the 1970s on the anti-cancer potential of cannabis (THC and CBD).

It says that cannabis would eliminate the spread of cancer cells and the growth of metastases. This phenomenon could be observed on different kinds of cancers (uterus, lung, thyroid, colon, brain in particular) which would show the anticancer power or at least anti-tumour of CBD. In addition to these two properties, CBD may help reduce the adverse side effects of chemotherapy cancer treatment (pain, vomiting, anxiety and insomnia).
Antioxidant potential and treatments neurodegenerative disorders

The involvement of the CB1 receptor in neurodegenerative diseases has been clearly established. CBD, on the other hand, acts directly on the brain receptor called CB1 and would therefore be beneficial to fight against heavy pathologies and their symptoms, such as benefits on:

multiple sclerosis

Parkinson’s disease

the most common form of disease …

the most common form of Alzheimer’s disease

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and mad cow disease

stroke

Some animal studies have shown that CBD may be able to reverse the poor cognitive function observed in animals with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. CBD would protect against brain damage by reducing beta-amyloid toxicity.

Potential effect of CBD against insomnia

Nowadays, lack of sleep or insomnia are very common ailments (10% of the population suffer from chronic insomnia and 30% will face it over the course of their lives). Cannabis in general is well known to combat sleep disorders but CBD would be more suitable than THC in cases of insomnia as it would affect the quality of sleep over the long term.

Indeed, CBD would help to fall asleep thanks to its relaxing and anxiolytic effects without suffering from the psychotropic effects of THC.

In addition, a study published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information pointed out that CBD would maintain liveliness during the day, despite a lack of sleep.

Anti-epileptic and anti-convulsant potential

Nowadays, lack of sleep or insomnia are very common ailments (10% of the population suffer from chronic insomnia and 30% will face it over the course of their lives). Cannabis in general is well known to combat sleep disorders but CBD would be more suitable than THC in cases of insomnia as it would affect the quality of sleep over the long term.

The oil of CBD and its supposed help to fight epilepsy have been exposed several times to the general public via television documentaries that have provoked many reactions. Like here at Mediapart.

The American Epilepsy Society is « optimistic about the value of CBD oil for the treatment of epilepsy and is currently studying whether its use is safe ». A study also showed that after 3 months of treatment with CBD extract products, 39% of children with treatment-resistant epilepsy experienced a reduction of more than 50% of seizures. After receiving 200-300 mg/d of cannabidiol for up to 4.5 months – 7 in 8 patients with generalized secondary epilepsy and resistance to antiepileptics improved.

Note that children « treated » with CBD benefited from increased vigilance, better sleep and a better mood since drowsiness and fatigue are side effects of epilepsy.

Potential and effect of CBD against skin problems:

The anti-inflammatory properties and benefits of CBD oil would reduce lipid production in skin cells and regulate sebum production. Its antioxidant properties protect the epidermis from environmental stress such as pollution. CBD oil is therefore a natural way to fight acne and skin dryness. In addition to its potential for action against acne problems, CBD-infused creams and balms would help relieve itching, swelling and redness associated with eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis.
The benefits of CBD
Conclusion

We have just seen the different potential and benefits of cannabidiol and CBD oil. Of course, this list is not exhaustive and other scientific studies are underway on the evils and pathologies we have just described. They will thus add to our knowledge of the supposed virtues of CBD and therefore of CBD oil. To sum up, CBD would have many benefits (anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, anti-psychotic, antioxidant…) and could improve the lives of many patients fighting against certain pathologies or their symptoms including « classic » remedies little/no functioning or having undesirable side effects.
